Weeks go by. as i fumble my way though the process of creating an immage...this immage in particular. I knew what and how it was going to go. as with may of my abstracts (no tall) I will have an inspirational spurt... somthing to start from..an object. but as I work though my process, I change dorection, the immage morphs into something else and all of the colors change as I bounce and feed off the last mark or color change. this is what I know, this is what im comfortable with and this is who i am as an artist. Mood, and thought play out in a quiet symphony... albeit short symphony's. with this work in particular I have no real music playing to feed off, there are only concepts playing though my mind some are more spontaneous, and others well wrung out of the mental rag.
this is the largest oil painting i have worked on thus far, and with the smoother canvas its proving a different visual beast as you barely see the pattern of the canvas though any of the paint, and its just not as tactful...so note to self only use heavy cotton duck canvas. this is a new form of abstract for me too. brought on by a smaller painting i had done and that was inspiration from a painting i had bought.
