Being an abstract artist, and rolling with the mindset of "I paint what I want" I work with an eb and flow of inspiration. I purchased a painting from a local gallery that was painted by a local famous/popular artist from the 60's-70's. the geometric pattern has spured an interest in geometric form all the while injecting my landscapes. I may not has a specific style persay, but what I do have is a knack for putting my all into creating something unique, that I feel expresses what I'm feeling and evoking a sence of my self expression. These geometric patterns are meant to give that sense of expressiveness, that I use in my highly expressive works, but within a controlled form. Much like how we as people put on different hats for the rolls we play in life. for instance when we are at work we put on a "work hat" that lends a more controlled form f who we are. There are rules we go by, tasks to be done a certain way, and behavior that is (should be) considered professional.
Creating a semingly controlled form of art that is expressive, is a new challlenge for me. I guess it isn't too different that that of a representational work? You have to control your brushstrokes to create an image.
This work and like the others will go through several itterations before I settle on the final piece. Its fun and challenging to create something new, and out of your comfortzone. It's the journey that the most important aspect. Without that journey, there would be no growth!
