ABOUT KEVIN

Born in 1970 in Portland, Oregon, I grew up just across the river in Vancouver Washington, in a traditional 70's Ranch styled house with my Mom, Dad, and older brother. I developed an interest in art from an early age and enrolled in art courses throughout my early school years and through High school. I entered my colored drawings, and pen and inks in several Art shows and competitions, during those years, receiving minor awards and mentions. I enrolled in Clark Community College in 1993 with the focus on Art. I plotted through nude figure drawing, and advanced drawing courses and showed at the Archer Gallery on the college campus. During 1994 I created a work (pictured) that would be my breakthrough art piece that is still a voice of inspiration for me. Matisse and Jackson Pollock at the time were a great influence and left an everlasting impression on the work I would create while in college and beyond.

Fast forward to 2018 when I finally decided to make a big move into my development as an artist. I was ferverously painting anything I found inspirational, but staying with an abstract mindset.

I have been represented by the Emerging Artists Platform online, and now gaining more traction with Gallery representation, and continuing online sales through my personal Social Medial channels.

My art is driven by emotions, music, color… it’s very much a part of who I am. I use my whole body when creating my large works. I use my hands directly on the canvas, slathered with paint. I smear, smudge, throw and wash the canvases with paint, water, markers, graphite, and whatever else I can use to elicit my emotions into physical forms of color.

My influences are that of Joan Mitchell, Cy Twombly, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner… the list is endless
